Takeaways Trek-Segafredo press conference before the 101st Giro d'Italia
Gianluca Brambilla (Goals and feeling so far this season):
For me itís a bit strange to arrive here at the Giro with not so many days racing, but after Abu Dhabi I was sick. Pneumonia kept my off the bike for 20 days. After that, I spent two weeks at an altitude training camp in the Sierra Nevada before racing the Tour of Croatia. It was a hard and fast race, so I think it was a good preparation for the Giro. My goal, as everyone knows already, is to make a good GC. In the past I have shown I prefer to take a stage victory instead of 12/13th in GC. So, Iíll start with a focus on top 10 for GC but if it doesnít come I think I have a stage victory in my legs.
Jarlinson Pantano (thoughts on Giro):
After the Volta a Catalunya I spent a few weeks at altitude in Colombia to prepare for the Giro. I like this race, my motivation here is to win a stage. But I donít know which.
I like stages 10, 11, 14 and 15. These are the stages where I believe I have a good chance.
Ryan Mullen (thoughts on opening TT):
I didnít get to ride the course yet but Iíve seen videos and Iíve played it over 5, 6, 7 times and Iíve got a good feel for it. But, if it were up to me designing the course I would have made it a little bit flatter, so that it might suit me a little better. It looks like a cool course, it goes through some nice parts of the city. It should be a pretty good spectacle, but itíll be challenging. Iím a TT rider and Iím here to ride the TT, so Iím going to give it my best like I always do and see where that gets me.
