Another KTM pole position double at Lommel LOMMEL (Belgium), 30 July 2011 – Antonio Cairoli and Jeffrey Herlings received the Lovemytime pole position award after winning the MX1 and MX2 Qualifying races on day one of the GP of Limburg. The MX1 qualifying race was red flagged because Steve Ramon crashed at the beginning of the heat and had to be taken to the hospital straight away. As the health and the safety of the riders is priority number one, the race direction took such decision to facilitate the assistance of the doctors at the track. Fortunately, Ramon only had a pinched nerve on his neck, but he will stay the whole night in the hospital in observation to make sure that there is no further damage. The fourth round of the FIM Veterans World Cup took also place today in Lommel and Erwin Hendrickx obtained the overall victory. Klaas Hofstede was second and home rider Pascal Bal completed the top three. MX1 Red Bull Teka KTM Factory Racing MX1’s Cairoli had a very good start, but he got stuck behind his teammate Nagl and was dropped down to the fifth position. Cairoli managed to overtake Nagl and Desalle in the first four laps, and he succeeded in passing Frossard in the last lap. With this victory, the Italian obtained his fifth Lovemytime pole position award in a row. Monster Energy Yamaha’s Frossard took the holeshot and dominated the race until the last lap. The French obtained the fastest lap of the session, but Cairoli was able to overtake him in the last metres of the MX1 qualifying race. Honda World Motocross’ Bobryshev had an excellent start and he rode second the first two laps of the heat. The Russian made a mistake and was down to the seventh position, but he succeeded in finishing third, ahead of Desalle and De Dycker. Home rider Desalle made a couple of mistakes during the MX1 qualifying race, but he was able to finish fourth. The Rockstar Energy Suzuki World MX1 rider is almost fully fit again from his numerous injuries and he was very satisfied with his riding today and he is looking forward to having a good result tomorrow. The fifth position was for LS Honda Racing’s De Dycker who showed once more his riding skills on the sand. The Belgian rider did not have a good start and had to push really hard from an initial tenth position. De Dycker rode third during a couple of laps, but he had to settle down with a final fifth place. Philippaerts, who injured his knee while he was training some days ago, struggled a little bit today and he crashed twice during the MX1 qualifying race and crossed the finish line 25th. 1. The Dutch young rider injured his rib last week and today he has been struggling with the pain. However, he expects to do a good performance tomorrow and obtain another GP win. His teammate Roczen rode second during the whole race and he crossed the finish line three second behind Herlings. Red Bull Teka KTM Factory Racing MX2’s Roczen knows that it will be hard to beat Herlings tomorrow, but he will do his best to repeat his last year’s victory in Lommel. CLS Monster Energy Kawasaki Pro Circuit’s Anstie impressed everybody by finishing third, ahead of Paulin and Van Horebeek. Anstie felt very comfortable on the sand and he is confident that tomorrow can make it to the podium. Monster Energy Yamaha’s Paulin starred in a great battle for the third position with Anstie during the last laps of the race, but the French decided to ride safe and kept the fourth position until the chequered flag. Red Bull Teka KTM Factory Racing MX2’s Van Horebeek made a small mistake while he was fighting for the fourth position, but he managed to finish fifth. The home rider is still recovering from his injury on his ribs, but he admitted that he feels able to obtain a good result tomorrow even not liking that much riding on the sand. Searle rode third during the beginning of the race, but he made several mistakes and crossed the finish line seventh behind Petrov. Belgian Roelants is back at the starting grid after the big concussion he suffered some weeks ago while he was training. Today he finished 12th and he is looking forward to tomorrow’s races. Osborne is not taking part in the Grand Prix of Limburg as he injured his shoulder and had to go to the USA to receive some treatment. Erwin Hendrickx obtained the overall victory thanks to his 2-1 result and he moved from 14th to 6th in the point standings of the championship. Second overall was his compatriot Klass Hofstede, who managed to win the first race, but could not stop Hendrickx to win the second heat. The third step of the podium was for home rider Pascal Bal. Mats Nilsson, who is still the leader of the series, missed this round as he injured his arm while he was training some days ago. The red plate holder is a doubt also for the upcoming rounds of the championship.
